No rainbows here

I am writing this in the middle of what I surmise is a thunderstorm, swathed in a blanket in the middle of a sea of flooded carpet.

It's been a shitty ass two days.

We live in a basement, and so every time it rains more than about three hours we get water around the baseboards in one corner of the living room. The last two days, however, thunderstorms of Noah-esque proportions have soaked the last two nights covering more than 50% of our living room in water. You walk through the carpet and water comes up.

We were given a carpet fan by the oh so helpful kid at the apartment desk. He said this is the worst it's been, as it's actually flooded all four of the apartments in the basement. Usually the one across from us is the only one that floods badly at all. The guy who was living there got moved to another apartment. Oh so helpful kid at the apartment desk hinted that this might be the case for us too.

We can't do that. We've got one of the few apartments in the complex that is not only without the added cost of a balcony but also shares utilities with the laundry room next door. We don't have to pay utilities and that's the only way we can afford to live here, especially right now when neither one of us has a job that pays decent money on anything like an hourly wage. Besides that, we would have the hassle of changing our phone and the internet, which would cost money to get transfered.

Now, he didn't say we would have to move, but if the alternative is living in a fucking swamp for the next two weeks and praying that we enter a drought... I don't know what we're going to do.
