Life the universe and

I keep opening up this box and staring at it and wondering what to say. Fact of the matter is that there's nothing to say. It's that "meh" time of year when there is much to be done and yet nothing important.

I am busy trying to work out why life is as it is. Why are all the people I know in stress related anger trying to get a bunch of papers and projects done for the end of the year? So they can graduate with a high GPA. They do that so that they can hopefully get a good job and live in a good house and... be helpful members of society?

Remind me again why we want to do this?

Since life is, as far as we can prove without a shadow of a doubt, all the existance we have, why are we so intent upon a goal rather than upon the journey? "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Why are we making such weird plans?

If we believe in a traditional "god" figure, we ought to be spending our time doing good works and helping others. Living in a nice house and having a nice job isn't exactly a part of that.

If we're living in an existential universe, it doesn't matter what happens anyway so make the best of what you've got. Living in a nice house with a nice job is part of that, but putting up with a lot of shit to get them isn't.

If we're fatalists, whatever happens happens and it doesn't matter whether we get the big house or the big job or not so why work for it in the first place?

If we're optimists, we're not angry about the shit we have to do to get the house and job.

That's four major life views that don't involve living life the way "everyone" lives it. So why, then?

Well, because this is the way "everyone" lives it, and it's in our nature to do what everyone else does even if it's easier to do it another way. Damn being a human says I.
