Little Egpyt and Darth Vader

It's been longer than I'd like. I've been busy with classes and then the grown ups were here for four days.

The only truly good thing that came of it was that we finally unpacked most of the rest of the boxes. It's possible (two months later) to walk through the house without going through a maze of boxes.

We also went to the ghost town that is Cairo these days. It seems they spent all their money in advertisements to get people to go down there, and no money at all invested in keeping anyone there once they arrived. There isn't a single restauraunt in the area that looked in any way reputable. Or a gas station. Or a hotel.

I wish we had taken pictures of "historic main street" because you wouldn't believe my descriptions of trees growing up through the store fronts. There's not a building on the entire block that's actually in use. I'd been told before the place was a sad ghost town, but I never truly believed it.

Geographically speaking, it's the southernmost point of the state, and the Ohio and Missouri Rivers converge there. I've never seen barges before, not up close, so I've got oodles of pictures (close to 100) that I have to sort through and shrink down to a reasonable size.

Finished watching the original Star Wars. There's no reason for Hayden Christianson to appear in the revised edition, because Luke wouldn't even recognise him as his father. Besides, that suggests that all that "tell your sister you were right" is a load of bull, and that there was no Anakin left in Vader. If the man behind the mask is indeed a good man, he should appear with Obi-Wan and Yoda. If he wasn't a good man, then it's true that Anakin the Jedi died completely, so for him to reappear, the only choice is to reappear as his younger self. In that case, there is no redemption for Vader and there was no hope for any of them, his son does not redeem anyone.

And the movies never do explain why some Jedi bodies disappear and others have to have the funeral pyre. I think in some ways, the first three episodes just created more questions for the last three.
